Just imagine. I’ll give you the scenario.
Imagine yourself standing at the entrance of a house with your partner in life (wife/husband). Regardless if you’re in a relationship or you’re still single or will still be single forever. Just imagine you’re already married, both you and your partner are too old, as in with grey hair and deep wrinkle lines that couldn’t be hidden even if you use BB cream with SPF50 (just kidding). Again, imagine right at this moment you are at your house and then suddenly a visitor came, and tell you (the husband) that your wife will be pregnant, soon… Whether you are the husband or wife, what will be your reaction? Will you be happy, will you be excited, are you in shock or will you just laugh and told that visitor, “Man, are you insane? come and join us, let’s eat. I think you’re just hungry. LOL.”
Does it really sounds insane? Well, I knew a story in the bible with almost the same scenario I told you to imagine before. How the wife reacts, let’s see. It’s from the book of Genesis, chapter eight verses ten to fifteen (Genesis 18:10-15). Here how it goes…
Then one of them said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.”
Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him. 11 Abraham and Sarah were already very old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing. 12 So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?”
13 Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”
15 Sarah was afraid, so she lied and said, “I did not laugh.” But he said, “Yes, you did laugh.”
While reading the story, did you just also imagine how the wife reacts? How Sarah, the wife of Abraham react at that very moment. I called that ‘sarah moment’. Now I wanna ask you, do you have ‘Sarah moment’ in your life? When you just tend to laugh at the things you thought that can never be happen? When there are times that you just chose to laugh at yourself because of the impossible things you can’t do? When someone believed it will happen, you just think that someone is pretty insane? And at the very least, you think it’s too hard for the Lord to do that?
Just a friendly reminder, God hears us. And if God will hear something from us, instead of negative thoughts or murmuring how impossible it is, why not be positive, claim it, believe that nothing is impossible in him. Let God hears our petition(prayers) and let our faith in him arise. You know what, sometimes or more often, God really made something ‘looks’ impossible for men, so that we can’t do nothing but depend on him. That’s the time we should practice our trust and faith in him, because truly it is Him who make all things possible.
If you just can imagine that and believe.
